The second generation of tachograph systems has recently been rolled out in Europe. The new 'smart' tachograph offers a number of upgrades compared to the previous generation. With the 0.81.0 update for TrustTrack, Fleetassist now offers support for the new tachograph. Fleetassist is one of the first Dutch fleet management systems to support the new smart tachograph.

GNSS: new satellite coupling

The digital tachograph makes it much easier to use a journey recorder. With the digital tachograph, for example, it is possible to automatically record precise locations by means of satellites or a link to a GPS system. This so-called GNSS, also known as the Global National Satellite System, ensures that the new smart tachograph is continuously connected and can determine the location of the vehicle very precisely.

DSRC: on-the-go controls

Remote controllers can also perform checks using dedicated short range communication (DSRC). This system saves the most recent trip data required for roadside checks every minute.

This concerns only data relevant to roadside checks, such as the longest power failure, motion data error, recorded speed and driving without a card. In this way, the driver no longer has to stop in order to carry out the checks. This saves unnecessary waiting time and the resulting higher transport costs due to delays.

UTC times-correction & intelligent transport systems

The new smart tachograph also supports the possibility of a standardized interface that allows an external device to use data generated by the tachograph. The personal data are protected and can only be viewed with the permission of the driver.

For longer journeys, the new tachograph also has automatic correction of the UTC times. This will make it possible to avoid penalties for exceeding the limit in the event of deviation.

Automatic import of driver data

The update 0.81.0 of TrustTrack now makes it possible to automatically connect the driver-id to the driver module.

As soon as the first .ddd file for a driver is received by the TrustTrack, the driver-id will be automatically read out and linked to the driver module, but the user is always able to change the name. The data on the driver list is even more accurate and you can use your Fleetassist even more clearly.

TrustTrack continues to support the new generation as well as the old generation tachograph cards and the corresponding files. Would you like to know how Fleetassist can help your organisation move forward? Look over here for the possibilities.
